Description

A brandy pipe with a meerschaum-lined bowl

This Chacom Écume 421 is a half bent pipe with the beloved “Brandy” shape and a black sandblasted finish. Its wide and rounded base offers a natural and comfortable grip. This beautiful piece has been lined with Meerschaum which prevents the overheating and offers a cooler smoke. This briar pipe is equipped with a vulcanite stem and a re-usable metal filter system (also called a condensing filter) that can be unscrewed for easy cleaning.

What is Meeerschaum ?

Meerschaum is a porous mineral (also called Sepiolite) which has several excellent smoking properties. First, it absorbs moisture and allows more air to the Tobacco. Thus, it offers a drier, cleaner and smoother smoke. Besides, the Meerschaum doesn’t burn so there is no need for breaking in the pipe. But Meerschaum is fragile : if dropped it will break. A Meerschaum lined-bowl offers the smoking properties of the Sepiolite which is protected by the Briar (and it is also aesthetically more pleasant!).

A briar pipe made with passion in Saint-Claude, France.

This is a one off pipe and the briar pipe in the pictures is the exact one you will receive. This Chacom Écume 421 was made in Chapuis-Comoy & cie workshops by a team of creative diehards which preserve traditional processes and pipemaking techniques. This French briar pipe will be delivered in a cardboard gift box with a branded cotton drawstring dustbag.
