A meerschaum lined pipe with a billiard shape

This JEANTET briar pipe is a half-bent pipe with the beloved billiard shape. Its briar bowl is entirely covered with a genuine beige suede leather. This unusual briar pipe, made in 1970’s in Saint-Claude, has been also lined with meerschaum to provide a cool, dry, flavorful smoke. In fact, the porous nature of meerschaum (a mineral also called Sepiolite) draws moisture and tobacco tar into the stone. This JEANTET estate pipe with a meerschaum-lined and leather wrapped bowl is perfect for sampling new blends or going on a getaway without taking away several pipes. This briar pipe is equipped with a vulcanite stem and a re-usable metal filter system (also called a condensing filter) that can be unscrewed for easy cleaning.

Please note the unsmoked estate pipe in the pictures is the exact one you will receive.

The JEANTET factory

The JEANTET factory was founded in 1816 in Saint-Claude, France. It previously operated a turnery producing in particular wooden shanks for porcelain pipes and wild cherry wood pipes. Over the years, the company increased their production of boxwood and briar pipes. In 1930’s, Jeantet firm decided to only manufacture briar pipes. Jeantet firm was merged in the Cuty Fort Group (est. 1987 and headed by Chapuis-Comoy & Cie) in 1988. Today, Jeantet pipes are produced in the Chapuis-Comoy workshops.
