Don’t get fooled by their name, Big Ben pipes are made in the Netherlands and not in the United Kingdom! The Dutch company GUBBELS, a briar pipe manufacturer since 1870 acquired BIG BEN, an English wholesaler of smoking accessories in 1951 and created the first BIG BEN pipes. The brand has been known for producing quality pipes ever since. Recognized as a “Royal Company” by the Queen of the Netherlands, Gubbels craft also Hilson, Bentley and Alpascia pipes.
